Hi, I'm Amy Millward MAPDT
Dogs are my passion, I live, work and breathe dogs (probably do breathe in quite a lot of dog hair too!). I only use kind, fun methods to help you effectively train your dog. I do not believe in forcing dogs to do anything in the name of training, instead I motivate them using praise and rewards to want to work with me.
Training is a team effort and I will be there to support you through the whole process from getting your puppy to the helping difficult dogs.
I am experienced in teaching many classes, formally Co-Head Trainer at ClickRight Dog Training. I have trained huge variety of breeds from Newfoundlands to Hungarian Pulis and recognize that every dog must be treated as an individual.
I am a full member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers which requires a written, practical and verbal exam before membership is offered. I am also a registered Animal Training Instructor with the Animal Behaviour & Training Council as well as a qualified Mantrailing instructor with Mantrailing UK. The Kennel Club have approved me to teach the Good Citizen Dog Scheme and I have trained many dogs and owners to pass the Puppy Foundation, Bronze, Silver and Gold awards. Most recently I have acheived Approved Instructor Status with the Dog Training College. As the safety of the dogs in my care is paramount, I am a Canine First Aider and regularly updates this qualification to ensure I am up-to-date with life saving techniques.
As required by the APDT and to stay true to my ethics, I regularly attends workshops, seminars and courses taught by some of the world’s experts in dog training and behaviour. Such experts include; Dr. Ian Dunbar, Ken Ramirez, Kay Laurence, Cecelie Køste, Grisha Stewart, Emily Larlham, Michele Pouliot and Kathy Sdao. I firmly believe that is essential to keep my knowledge and understanding of dogs cutting-edge so I am able to pass the latest scientific methods onto you and your dog.
When I am not training with you and your dogs I enjoy sketching (you guessed it; dogs!) and agility training on my smallholding in Carmarthenshire. I also handle both my own and other peoples' dogs at conformation shows, proudly competed at Crufts and handled a dog to Champion level. I am a committee member of The Labrador Retriever Club of Wales and The Welsh Beagle Club. I have first hand experience with raising and training litters of puppies with the a scientific rearing programme called Puppy Culture. I also own and run a website called Beagle Puppy Breeders putting responsible owners in touch with responsible breeders. I strongly believe that a good dog's education starts with the breeder.
