Assessment for the A.M.D.T. Master Trick Dog Award.

 

Assessments are done remotely by sending videos of 8 Master Tricks (as layed out by the scheme criteria). Videos can be sent via Facebook, WhatsApp or email.

Tricks must be performed to a hight standard in order to pass the assessment and recieve the A.M.D.T. Beginner Trick Dog Awards certificate and rosette.

 

Tricks must be taught using only kind, gentle techniques, making use of rewards in the form of food, toys and praise. Any use of harsh handling or aversive techniques will result in disqualification from the scheme and assessment fee being forfeited. The dog must be handled by the person who taught the tricks, there is no age restrictions with this scheme allowing young handlers to take part.

 

The Trick Dog Award Scheme’s aim is to provide fun, low pressure training goals and to be enjoyable for both dog and handler. It has been set up to encourage dog owners to take part in training their dog using kind, gentle methods. The Trick Dog Award Scheme assessment must be assessed by an Instructor approved to teach Amy Millward Dog Training Award Schemes.

 

Each trick demonstrated for assessment must be a ‘finished behaviour’, e.g. must be on cue (command) and performed without the use of lures (food in the hand) and excessive prompting.

 

To earn each level of award your dog must demonstrate a number of tricks of a specified difficulty laid out in the scheme. Levels must be completed and passed in order, before the next level can be achieved.

The dog must be handled by the person who taught the tricks, there is no age restrictions with this scheme allowing young handlers to take part.

     

    If the attempted assessment is failed, the handler can re-take the assessment with the same dog up to three times within 90 days of paying the assessment fee.

     

    Once the assessment has been submitted no refunds or returns can be accepted.
