Service Description

Real-Life Skills for Real-Life Dogs 🐕 This practical, real-world training course is designed for adolescent dogs and older puppies who are ready to take their training beyond the basics. Ideal for dogs who have completed a puppy training course or have already done 1-to-1 training, this course focuses on building reliable, everyday life skills in the environments that actually matter. Over four weeks, training sessions take place in progressively more challenging real-world locations, helping dogs learn to remain calm, focused and responsive despite real-life distractions. This course is perfect for owners who want to strengthen existing foundations, improve reliability around distractions and continue developing a calm, well-mannered dog they can confidently take anywhere. ✔ Limited to just 6 dogs ✔ Suitable for adolescent dogs and older puppies Course Structure Week One – Amy Millward Dog Training Paddock (near Meidrim) We start in a calm, controlled environment to refresh foundations and assess each dog’s current skill level. Focus, engagement and core life skills are strengthened before moving into busier settings. Week Two – Laugharne (Main Car Park) Introducing new environments and distractions, with an emphasis on maintaining focus, calm behaviour and responsiveness away from home. Week Three – Carmarthen (John Street Car Park – parking charges apply) Developing confidence and control around roads, traffic and busy public spaces, with practical guidance for real-world situations. Week Four – Carmarthen Museum Car Park Bringing everything together amongst people, smells and other dogs, with opportunities to practise recall, lead skills and calm behaviour in open spaces. What to Bring to Class Please ensure you bring the following each week: • A harness or flat collar • A lead (maximum 2 metres — no extendable leads) • A high quantity of small, high-value treats (Soft, smelly treats work best — e.g. JR Pâté, sausage or chicken) • Your dog’s favourite toy (if toy-motivated) • Poo bags • An ID tag with the owner’s surname, address and telephone number
